Dr. Julia L. Mikell

Dr. Julia Mikell received her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, magna cum laude in 1972 Phi Beta Kappa. Following graduation, Dr. Mikell pursued a career in medicine and completed medical school at the Medical College of Georgia in 1976. Subsequently, Dr. Mikell completed her internship at the Medical University of South Carolina and her Neurology Residency and Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in 1980. In addition to Neurology, Dr. Mikell is an active Certified Member of Neurorehabilitation and an accredited Clinical Polysomnographer and the Director of Rehabilitation at Candler Hospital. She has a special interest in M.S. and geriatric neurology. In 2010, she was awarded membership in the honorary medical society AOA and was also named AOA volunteer Teacher of the Year for the Medical College of Georgia. She has been named to two State Health Commissions by Governors Barnes and Perdue. Dr. Mikell has been in private practice in Savannah since 1980. She is married to the Honorable Charles B. Mikell, Jr. and has three sons.
